Grinder’s Switch Winery

Just like many great wineries in Nashville TN, Grinder’s Switch is a family-run establishment. Owners Joey and Gail Chessor now oversee a 7 acre vineyard, a large tank room and – as of 2015 – a satellite branch in downtown Nashville. Out of the ten tons of grapes harvested by the winery, winemakers have produced an array of dry, off-dry, sweet and semi-sweet wines, including their Barrel Select, Vidal Blanc, Ivory Mist, Blackberry Express and Chardonnay. The winery was also named one of The South’s Best Vineyards by Southern Living.
Opening times:
- Open seven days a week
- Sunday: 12pm – 5pm
- Monday to Thursday: 10am – 5pm
- Friday and Saturday: 10am – 6pm
Guests can enjoy wine tasting at the original location, as well as visiting the vineyard itself. You can also buy wine-themed gifts and other products at the tasting room, and the surrounding lawns are perfect for casual picnics. The branch in Nashville itself also offers daily tastings, as well as gifts.
Grinder’s Switch has a number of wine clubs, granting perks such as discounts on wines, complimentary tastings, and access to members-only events. The original farm has an event room that holds up to 50 people.
Amber Falls Winery

Amber Falls is a well-established winery owned by Judy and Tim Zaunbrecher. The property was bought in 2003 and by 2005 the first grapes – Chardonnay and Seyval Blanc – were planted. The tasting room at the vineyard was opened in 2008 and, since then, Amber Falls has produced award-winning wines that have featured in the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition. Its satellite stall and tasting room in the Opry Mills Mall in Nashville opened in 2019, but wine enthusiasts can still visit the vineyards in Hampshire, Tennessee and enjoy the Amber Falls wine in the original cellar.

Both branches (Nashville and Hampshire) offer walk-in wine tastings, as well as scheduled, private, and tasting by the glass. The Amber Falls Guest Cottage at the vineyards allows guests to soak up the relaxed atmosphere with access to a fireplace, Jacuzzi, and continental breakfast with pastries, milk, juice and fresh fruit.
Natchez Hills Winery

Just like most of the best wineries, Natchez Hills is family-owned and run. Jim and Karen Odom founded the vineyard in Tennessee with the goal of creating a wine haven where visitors can relax and enjoy a sense of community while they sample the winery’s wares. They use “Old-World” techniques to ferment their grape, and are constantly driving towards more sustainable farming practices.
Natchez Hills Winery and Vineyards are spread across the Nashville area. The vineyard itself is located just south of Nashville, while Natchez Hills Winery at the Market is situated on the south side of Germantown and offers local meats and cheeses as well as wine tasting. Just under 10 miles from the Market venue lies Natchez Hills Winery at The Hermitage; another of the wineries near Nashville tasting venue also offering informative tours.
Opening times for Natchez Hills vineyard:
- Friday to Sunday: 12pm – 5pm
- Closed: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, December 26, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Opening times At the Market:

- Sunday and Wednesday: 11am – 4pm

At both Natchez Hills Vineyard and the Market location, tasting 5 wines costs $6. At the Market there are more tasting options available on request. Both venues happily receive walk-ins but at the Market reservations are required for additional tasting experiences.

Belle Meade Winery

Belle Meade wasn’t always a winery. Until 2009 it existed mainly as a breeding farm for American Thoroughbred horses which played host to many notable politicians and tycoons. Now the winery produces wines of all kinds and aims to be “a monument to Southern culture”. Guests can partake in a number of activities, including the standard wine tasting, tours around the vineyards, wine and food pairings and private gatherings.

- Daily: 9am – 5pm
Visitors must purchase a tour or grounds pass in order to enter Belle Meade. Apart from wine tasting, tours, and private events, the venue has a wine garden, games court, two eateries and extensive grounds. It is advisable to book for tastings and tours.

Arrington Vineyards

This winery is situated to the south of Nashville and is home to 16 acres of vineyards and five tasting rooms. The property in its entirety consists of 95 acres, leaving plenty of room for picnic areas and panoramic views of “Wine Country”.
